Review: Magic Eraser

by holly on March 11, 2008

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser isn’t exactly magic but it does do a pretty good job on certain jobs. The Magic Eraser is sort of like a sponge. It’s white and rectangular shaped. It does not contain any cleaning solution nor does it need any for it to work. To use just get it wet and squeeze the water out. As you use the eraser, over time it will get smaller and pieces will start to come off- just like a rubber pencil eraser.

If the floor of your bathtub is textured you know how hard it is to get clean. The Magic Eraser won’t magically clean your bathtub but with a little elbow grease this cleaning tool CAN erase the soap scum and dirt from all of the crevices. It’s the best tool I have found for this job.

The magic eraser is also great for cleaning scuff marks off of walls and floors- it literally erases them away. It’s great for refrigerator and dishwasher doors too. A friend tells me that the eraser also works well on shining up sink and bathtub faucets (thanks, Melissa!)

One day I decided to try the Magic Eraser on my counter top next to the stove. I was shocked (and disgusted!) by what came off a counter that looked clean to me!

I make sure to keep a Magic Eraser on hand at all times. You never know when it might come in handy. I keep finding new ways to use it. How do YOU use your Magic Eraser? In case you missed them, find more green cleaning tips HERE.

I too LOVE and swear by Magic Erasers. I use them on just about everything! I’m not sure if it says this on the package or not, but here is my little warning…BE CAREFUL when using them on wooden surfaces that have been clear coated. From my experience painted surfaces do ok.

My youngest wrote (in ink) on her dresser, and of course I used a magic eraser to clean it. It worked, however on a really bad ink spot, I over-scrubbed and actually removed the clear coat and stain from the wood. Ooops!?

Sorry to ramble…other than that small mistake, I would definitely recommend Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!

I love these too.
They are faaabulous on plastic. Especially outdoor furniture and toys. I imagine they would be great on baby doll faces, those get gross.

It is the only thing I have found that will really clean my stovetop! Not to mention spilled kool-aid on the counter, permanent magic marker on the walls, etc! What is in those things anyway?! I don’t know how I ever lived without them!
