Review & Giveaway: Between Me & You Keepsake Journals

by holly on September 29, 2008

**This Giveaway is now closed. Please check back on Mondays when we start a new giveaway each week. Thanks!**
Looking for a unique gift idea for the holidays? Look no further! Sand Dune Publishing Company has come out with a line of keepsake journals to give to the special people in your life.

Each journal is hard covered and spiral bound. It measures 6.5″ x 7.25″ and contains 35-45 questions for your loved one to answer. It is currently available in 8 different formats- Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Brother, Sister, Daughter, Son, Family Reunion, Girl and Honey. The cover of each journal looks like the one to the left, each in a different color. The books retail for $14.95 plus shipping.

The idea is to give the book to the person of your choice and have them fill out the answers to the questions. I think this is an especially neat idea for kids to give to their grandparents to help them better understand who they are. What a great keepsake it would become! A hand written journal with answers to questions such as “What were some of your favorite things to do as a child?” and “What are your memories of the day you and Grandfather were married?”

I received the Mom book to review and got a chance to see what an entire book looks like. All of the questions are simple and fun to answer. There is adequate space for each response and a section in the back titled “other stuff” with several blank pages for any additional thoughts. In the mom book, my favorite chapter was “What about Me?” where it asked questions such as “What do you remember most about the time you were pregnant with me?” and “What characteristics do you and I share now?”

I think this type of journal is a great idea and would be fun for a lot of people. I also think that it might be fun in reverse! Instead of giving the journal to a love one to fill out for yourself, it would be neat to fill one out for your loved one and giving it to them as a gift.

To find out more about Between Me and You journals, visit http://www.sanddunebooks.com/.

Feeling Lucky? Enter to win TWO journals of your choice by leaving a comment letting us know what you like about the journals and which two you would chose. The contest is open until Friday October 3rd at Midnight. The winner will be chosen by random number generator and contacted by email. They will have 48 hours to respond with their mailing address or another winner will be drawn.

For an extra entry, blog about our giveaway then come back and leave the link in the comments area.

Please be sure to leave a way to contact you should you be the lucky winner. This info will not be used for any other purpose.

Good Luck!

I love the grandma and mom one. Its a great idea for children to know a bit about their families past and present. Thanks!

Pamela Vest October 1, 2008 at 1:03 pm

I have 2 daughters so I would like to have 2 daughter journals one for each.

Jen October 1, 2008 at 1:03 pm

This journals are beautiful! My mum was recently diagnosed with cancer and it makes you realise that time is limited and your parents wont always be there. For this reason i would choose the mom and dad versions.
Thanks,

These books would be a great way for family members to get to know each other in a way that they otherwise might not. I would love to win two of the grandmother books so that when my daughters grow up they would have something from each grandmother to learn about them and always remember them by.

Thanks!

I would love two honey books. I think it is great for us and for our kids to read someday!

Wehaf October 1, 2008 at 2:01 pm

I would get the honey one. So much of the love that my SO and I share is spoken, so I would love to have a written record.

Sometimes we have a hard time realizing what we need to tell our kids about ourselves! This would be great for myself and my mother to use for my little one!

What a great idea! I would love to get one for my grandparents to get some of our family history out of them before it’s too late. I wouldn’t mind one for my parents too for the same reason. And it would be fun to give one to my soon-to-be husband to get to know him more…oh who am I kidding – I’d take them all!

What a great Idea, thanks for posting about it. If I could choose I would go for 2 of the Grandma and 2 of the Grandpa, So my son would have them from all his grandparents. I wish these were around when I was younger, I would have loved to have something like this from my grandparents whom have passed on now.

I have a similar book that my Grandfather filled out for me when I was a baby, and now that he’s gone I cherish it.
I would love to be able to pass on the same gift to my child with the grandparent books!

It is hard to pick just 2. I would want 1 to be the Dad book, for my in-laws to fill out…for their son, my 1st husband & father to my 2 oldest children, who passed away. It would be nice to have their memories of their son, written down for their grandsons/or his children. I'd also pick a Grandma book.

GritsGirl October 1, 2008 at 9:08 pm

I would love the Mom and Honey one! What a great way to remember memories and build closer relatioinships!!

abby October 1, 2008 at 9:13 pm

I love the mom and grandma one… what a neat concept. The grandma one would be great so my son will have something to remember my mom by, especially since she lives almost 1000 miles away and he’ll have it forever, even when she’s not around and he’s older.

missdenise October 1, 2008 at 9:41 pm

I would love the mother and daughter ones.

Kelly October 1, 2008 at 9:49 pm

I would love one mom one and a honey one. These are such a neat idea.

Claire October 1, 2008 at 10:01 pm

What an awesome idea! I’d get one for grandma and one for grandpa…then I’d buy two more of the same, since my kids have both sets of grandparents still. My dad is forever telling the kids stories about his life, but the other grandparents aren’t as talkative. :-)

Miranda October 1, 2008 at 11:13 pm

I really love the Grandma and Mother ones. Both of these women in my life would have wonderful things to say and I’d love a way to preserve them

Lisa October 2, 2008 at 12:57 am

I would love the mother and grandma ones. My mom lives so far away I think it would be great for her to share her life with my girls! I also have quite a few stories to share!

tps1 October 2, 2008 at 1:18 am

I would love the dad and sister one. I’m amazed all the time of the new things I learn about my dad the older I get. I’d love to discover other things that I wouldn’t think about asking him. And also my sister has an incredible memory of when we were kids. I’d love to get her to fill out the sister one.

I would love the grandma and honey one. This is a great idea to give the chance to write down things that otherwise would probably not be shared

What a great idea! My grandmother passed away two years ago and I wish I knew more about her besides the stories my Dad tells. I would choose a Grandma and Grandpa one for my son to get to know them better.

Kim October 2, 2008 at 2:18 am

I would love the Mom ones for my boys. I gave a friend something like this and wanted one for myself.

I would use the Grandpa journals. Both my father and my father-in-law have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and my sons are the only grandsons on both sides. It would mean the world to them and my boys to have this memory of their grandfathers. I have a Mom one, and I plan to give it to my sons on the day they get married.

The Saunders Family October 2, 2008 at 10:32 pm

i like the questions, they are indepth and thoughtful. I would get the grandma and honey ones

I think I would really appreciate the Grandmother and the Grandfather ones. My parents are up in age, and sadly will not be around for my children to really get to know them. This would be a priceless treasure to pass on to them, as they already have one grandmother they never had the chance to know.

My Family Reunion. I’d like two copies, one for me and one for my wife. My dad died in June and my wife’s mother died last month. We just went to our family reunion on my dad’s side. My wife’s is this month. As I get older I appreciate these more and we are sharing stories and pictures more. This would be very timely for us.
