Thanks for the giveaway! For three years, I was the BOXTOPS lady at my kids’ school. I cut them, counted them and sent them in twice a year. Since I have a little one at home, it’s difficult to volunteer during school hours, but there are often things like this you can do from home to help the schools!

Mama Moose November 14, 2008 at 4:54 pm

I don’t have a child in school just yet but since I have been couponing I have cut all of the boxtops off any products that I use. It amazes me how many there are!! I give these to my mom who works at schools. themoosehouse at gmail dot com

I sign up all my store “loyalty” cards and use Upromise to donate to my child’s school.

I use the cereal box tops for my friends school. My daughter is too young but she will go there soon. We do flash cards and my toddler loves them her knowledge of animals is amazing!

Mandy November 14, 2008 at 5:50 pm

Awesome giveaway! With really little ones we are investing monetarily each month for their education.

CrystalGB November 14, 2008 at 7:02 pm

We save box tops and use learning aids like Leap Frog.

Andrea V November 14, 2008 at 7:12 pm

My kids are not in school yet, but i always cut the box tops and give them to the neighbor kids that are in the same district. Thanks

My daughter is only one, but I have been singing her the alphabet song since she was in utero. She can sing it really well now for a 14 month old!

I don’t have a little on in school yet (he’s just 19 months) but I plan on volunteering when he is old enough :) I can’t wait! arena.thompson [at] hotmail.com

Well, my kids are OUT of school now – and almost out of college! But I STILL save boxtops and donate them to one of the primary school teachers who goes to my church and sings in choir with me. Anna is like a kid herself and gets so excited when I bring her an envelope full of boxtops – she hopes her class wins the contest of collecting the most boxtops. I don’t know what she will get with them, I just know that she will get something…

PennyWise Taximom November 15, 2008 at 2:34 am

I like to contribute to my child’s education by attending school board meetings, volunteering to help out when needed, and giving teachers supplies for their classrooms- since they get so little money to buy stuff and spend so much of their own money. I donate my box tops and my campbells soup labels and coke tabs so they can get money.

Morgan November 15, 2008 at 6:07 am

We’ve been using Upromise to build up extra college cash. Little by little.

hazel November 15, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Little one is still very little so for now I just read to him. I’m an avid reader so I’m hoping to get him to like books early!

Amy November 17, 2008 at 5:00 am

I contribute to my children’s education by setting aside an hour each day for us ALL to read. I feel that by me taking the time to read too, it sets a good example for them. My kids are now in 8th and 9th grade, so we don’t have classroom volunteers anymore, but in elementary school, I also volunteered in the classroom and for whatever else the school called and asked for help with. -One year it was helping to register incoming K kids.

Insignificon November 17, 2008 at 1:49 pm

One way I contribute to my child’s education: I homeschool him! Doesn’t get much more involved than that, does it?

Brooke November 17, 2008 at 1:54 pm

I feel like I contribute to my child’s education by participating in as much school stuff as possible. I love to help her with her homework every day, volunteer in class, and communicate with the teacher about how my daughter is doing, and how I can help her to do better.

The Budzinski Bunch November 17, 2008 at 1:59 pm

Being an active part of my child’s education is the best part of parenting. I volunteer at his school atleast once a week but normally more. Even though I have two other little ones at home..I still manage to volunteer as much as I can, and I will continue to do it when they are of school age as well. I will be siging up for box tops. I just recently heard about it and I think it’s great :) If I win this $50 GC I will be donating some books to my child’s classroom. So they will benefit twice from this one give away :)

Cortney November 17, 2008 at 2:07 pm

Thanks for a great giveaway. I don’t have a child of my own, but I like to contribute to my nephew’s education by buying him books. His favorite so far is a book of Swahili words after I came back from Africa. He loves it! Thanks!

Karen November 17, 2008 at 2:11 pm

This is my first year NOT volunteering as the “Box Tops Lady” at our school. (I miss it only a teensy bit.) I volunteer as much as I can at my kids’ school. My favorite volunteer gig there is working in the school library. I also help out the teachers with photocopying or whatever else they need. Every little bit helps!

Lo November 17, 2008 at 2:15 pm

My son goes to daycare at the school where I teach. We contribute things to the daycare room — toys, paper towels, etc. — just as I appreciate when parents make such donations to my classroom.

EJW November 17, 2008 at 2:15 pm

We joined Upromise and have been contributing to a 529 since our son was a twinkle in his father’s eye.

Moo November 17, 2008 at 2:21 pm

Every month we send in our box tops, we contribute to Upromise through our purchases, and we support our PTO by participating in every sale. We have more magazine subscriptions, more cannisters of popcorn and more wrapping paper then we really need but if it helps the school to purchase a much needed computer for all the children, we’re in! Thanks for a great giveaway!

makeetis November 17, 2008 at 2:21 pm

I always buy another set of school supplies so that someone who doesn’t have one can use it at school. I also give money every nine weeks to help out with their good behavior rewards. I don’t give all that much but if everyone gave just a little that would be alot. Thanks for the chance. brewerchickey78(at)yahoo.com

Rita @ My Precious Pennies November 17, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Well, considering she’s only 6 months old there’s not much we can do right now. We’re taking her to Gymboree, and I put away some money every month towards her college fund.

I’m doing box tops online to support my old middle school. Check out my blog for a $50 walmart giftcard giveaway!

lrbodine November 17, 2008 at 2:54 pm

My daughter isn’t old enough for school yet but she loves reading and me reading to her and I cut out the boxtops to give to my nieces and nephews schools.

Kristie November 17, 2008 at 2:59 pm

My little ones are only 1 and 2 right now, so we haven’t gotten too involved with the schools. We do collect Box Tops and Campbell’s soup labels and give them to a friend who is a teacher in the school district, though.

We’re big savers of the box tops at our house. We homeschool, but a homeschool group we belong to collects them just as a public school would. I appreciate that they do that!

Thanks for the giveaway!

Kimberly November 17, 2008 at 3:14 pm

We have been doing Box Tops for years. It’s a great program.

We contribute to our kid’s education by joining the PTA and being actively involved. Participating in fundraising. Helping out in the classroom. Donating books, materials and even games (for indoor recess). There are so many ways to help.

We go on an educational trip once a month! Whether its a museum, a business, a farm…. we go somewhere where they can learn by seeing, and sometimes doing!

My son just started preschool this year, and so far I’ve helped out with classroom supplies and voulenteering in the classroom. I love doing my little part in helping!

Linda and Greg November 17, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Thanks for a great giveaway!

I am pregnant, no other children, but as a former K teacher I believe in the importance of reading! We even plan on reading to our child in the womb–never to early to start!

Bottle drives and bake sales! These things never end!

Jenni November 17, 2008 at 4:58 pm

My kiddo isn’t in school quite yet, but I would still love to contribute to the future school! Thanks

CPA Mom November 17, 2008 at 6:06 pm

We put $50 a month for each child into a 529 plan for them and $50 a month per child into their Coverdell.

It’s a stretch some months!

nadia November 17, 2008 at 6:35 pm

I contribute to my little boy’s education by doing projects at home and workbooks on reading and writing, counting, etc (he’s only 4). We also read a lot before bed time.

treflea4 at gmail dot com

chris November 17, 2008 at 6:35 pm

I try to take an active role in his classroom every year and stay on top of homework! He also has other workbooks that he does at home with me to reinforce what is taught at school

Peter Schott November 17, 2008 at 6:46 pm

We do the Box Tops thing and my wife helps with the organization of various projects around the school. We do a lot of home learning as well when our kid shows an interest in various things.

Jenna November 17, 2008 at 7:01 pm

I do not have any children, but I do like to cut boxtops and give them to the local school. I also try to attends special events at the local school. Thanks for the giveaway!

Aimee November 17, 2008 at 7:14 pm

My husband and I have a 4 year old daughter with special needs (and a 2 year old son who is “typical”). Our daughter just started her second year of special ed preschool and the thing I’ve tried to do to be as involved as I can is volunteer in her classroom as a “guest reader”. This gives me a chance to interact with the all the wonderful kids my daughter spends her afternoons with each and every day, plus being read to is SUCH an incredible way for children to learn. Our daughter’s teacher has told us on several occasions that she can tell that reading is a priority at our house because that’s the first place my daughter runs to when she gets to school…the bookshelf! :)

Thanks for the giveaway!! We’re big “boxtoppers”!! My hubby is a teacher, too, so we’re box top central!!

kagey10 November 17, 2008 at 8:13 pm

I dont’ have kids of my own but I donate to boxtops for my niece and nephews school. and I donate time (volunteer) at my old elementary and jr high. it feels good!

I have also signed up for Upromise and am slowly working on getting fam signed up.

Thank you!!!!

socmama November 17, 2008 at 8:43 pm

Our kids are all under school age, but we make a point of reading to them every day and teaching them letters, numbers, colors in creative ways.

Denise November 17, 2008 at 9:14 pm

My daughter’s daycare collects boxtops and we save as many as we can. We support her education by reading to her a lot. She loves having books read to her and she’s starting to “read” books on her own, and she’s not even two yet!

WM November 17, 2008 at 9:46 pm

I never thought I’d be a “PTA” mom but I signed up now that my kiddos are in Kindergarten. I figure it’s an excellent way to stay involved.
