Unilever Giveaway

by holly on October 29, 2009

Have you noticed our Beauty of the Day widget? It’s located near the bottom of the page in the left sidebar. It’s got some great tips.

One of my favorite tips from the widget is to use Vaseline to care for your cuticles. Just massage a dab onto each cuticle before bed every night to keep them from getting dry. Use a q-tip for less mess.

I work part time in an infant care center and wash my hands about a million times a day. Combined with the cold weather, it really makes my hands and cuticles dry. A few times a week I wear some silicone lined gloves after slathering my cuticles with vaseline and hands with a heavy moisturizer to keep them moisturized. Drinking lots of water also helps!

Another beauty tip that I picked up a few years ago is adding baking soda to your cleanser to turn it into a mild exfoliant. Who would have thought?! It actually works quite well and it’s gentle enough for daily use and super cheap to boot!

Pictured are Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes which I have been using nightly to remove my make up. I love having something quick and handy when I am tired at the end of the day and these do a nice job.

Unilever, the parent company of brands such as Dove, Ponds and Vaseline have put together a package of their beauty products to give to one lucky reader. Mindy and I each received similar boxes and they are filled with great (and useful) stuff! The winner of this giveaway will be able to enter the UPC codes from the Dove products on Facebook to donate $1 to the Dove Self Esteem Fund. You can help too! Check out this post. Enter to win this Unilever prize package by filling out the form below. Also be sure to check out all of our other giveaways here.

Well, I'm a guy, so I don't have many beauty tips. I'd say mine would have to be using a body wash or face wash with exfoliating beads to scrub away dead skin.

cdziuba October 29, 2009 at 2:01 pm

cdziuba@aol.com Moisturize your hands well, then slip your hands into gloves and wear as long as you can to really hydrate the skin.

Amber October 29, 2009 at 2:49 pm

I drink tons of water – it helps my skin stay clear.

Xenia October 29, 2009 at 6:30 pm

I recently discovered the Dr. Scholl's For Her Smooth My Sole micro file and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It is easy to use and never hurts and is really helping my heels to heal. I will say though that it does not catch all that you file off like it says it does.

Guys need lotion just as much as gals. Our skin gets dry and flaky too. So my tip would be for guys to get over thinking that lotion is for gals. Its not…its for humans!
