Flavorful Low Sodium Meals

Twittermoms and Mrs. Dash have teamed up and asked us to share our favorite Flavorful and Low Sodium Meals.  I guess I have been hiding this recipe from you.  This will be one of the easiest meals you will ever fix in your life and my family loves it.  Yes, even my picky kids eat it!  Mrs. Dash has become a favorite in my house since I was first introduced to it a few years ago.  A friend introduced me to this meal and I have altered it a tad to our preferences, but it is so easy and great!  There are so many amazing ideas with Mrs. Dash.  So, here we go:

Sausage and Potates Meal (altered to use Turkey Sausage, but “regular” sausage is fine as well)

Ingredients:

2 packages of turkey sausage
About 4-6 baking potatoes (depending on your family’s size)
Mrs. Dash’s Original Seasoning (or if you choose a different seasoning for yourself)
Water (not measured, but just a little)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Wash potatoes.  Cut into thin slices (not SUPER thin, but not thick either).  Next, cut turkey sausage.  Place all of these ingredients into a 9 x 13 casserole dish.  Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash’s Original Seasoning.  Add a tad bit of water in the bottom of the dish.  Put into the oven and cook for 1 hr.  Serve when it’s done!

I like to place my sausage mainly on top of the potatoes because some of the juices will run down the potatoes and cook faster.  I do like to ”stir” all of the ingredients half way through though to make sure it all cooks evenly.  I was never told to do this, but I find it really helps.  If using sausage other than turkey sausage, no water is needed and the grease will help cook the potatoes.  We’re trying to be healthy here though.  :)
