The Last Airbender Video Game Review & Giveaway

by holly on August 17, 2010

I’ve never even heard of the move The Last Airbender by M. Night Shyamalan but apparently it is based on a hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series of which I’ve also never heard of!  It’s a story about four nations- Air, Water, Earth & Fire.  The Fire Nation starts a war against the others which goes on for a century.  A boy named Aang realizes he is the lone Avatar who has the power to control all four elements.  He teams up with a Waterbender and her brother to help restore peace to the war-torn world.

THQ created a game based on the story.  It’s available in Nintendo DS, DSi and Nintendo Wii formats.  The game is told from the perspective of Prince Zuko, the exiled heir of the Fire Nation.  To restore his father’s honor, Zuko’s personal quest is to capture Aang who is the sole survivor of the Air Nation.  The story, and the lives of these characters are complex and intricate.  Your job as a player is to master the powers of Firebending and Airbending to help Zuko and Aang fulfill their destiny.

You’ll be able to embody three different players in the game- Aang, Zuko and the Blue Spirit, and learn how to manipulate  air and fire to create destructive forces such as Air Vortexes, Tornadoes, Fire Balls and Fire Bombs which you’ll use in battles against enemies.  The game is packed with action and adventure and will transport you to a different world.

The Last Air Bender features voice overs from Academy Award nominee Dev Patel who plays Prince Zuko in the movie, Noah Ringer who plays Aang and Aasif Mandavo who plays Zhao.

The Last Airbender features:

  • Action-Packed Levels – Journey through 14 levels of dynamic game play and 3 intense boss battles to a climatic ending.
  • Exclusive Moves – Playing as Aang, players can bend water and use Aang’s glider to escape and maneuver. Playing as Zuko and the Blue Spirit, players use dodge rolls, slash attacks, and parkour abilities to avoid and stun enemies.
  • Discover Your Bending Powers – Players utilize the Nintendo Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller configuration to bend fire and air as they combat, battle and maneuver through a mystical game universe.
  • 2-Player Co-op – Put your powers to the test with a friend in the co-op gameplay option.
  • The Movie Experience Plus More – Experience brand-new, groundbreaking physics only available on the Wii version of the game.
