I used to be a scrapbooker. Up until my first child became mobile that is. Then it became almost impossible for me because I like to scrapbook on the floor and lay out all of my pages and supplies. I found out the hard way that crawlers LOVE paper! Then I had two more kids and time also became an issue. It’s important to me though to document our family as we grow. The easiest way for me to do this is with photo books I can design online with our photos that have been uploaded to my computer. I’ve used my fair share of sites to create photo books and there is somewhat of a learning curve with all of them. Inkubook was no different. You just have to get a feel for the tools and familiarize yourself with the layout of the site. After that it’s very simple and you can create a beautiful book with tons of customization. I had the hardest time figuring out how to change the page layouts. For the life of my I couldn’t figure out why I could only put four photos to a page in the same pattern. I knew there must be a way but I could not figure it out. I designed my entire book before I realized that the button that said “get more” was just for getting more photos but for getting more layouts, backgrounds etc. I went back and redesigned some pages to get a different look.
Designing your book is done entirely online. The only negative thing I can say about Inkubook is that there is no “save” button. I left my computer on for days with that page open because I was terrified I’d lose all the work I had done. There must be some sort of auto save feature because I did eventually have to reboot and my book was all there when I came back. It would be more reassuring though to actually save it myself so that I knew!
The design page uses drop down menus and tabs so it’s very easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Aside from my issue with the layouts (and that was ALL me, having a “duh” moment) Inkubook was a breeze to use.
The end product came out nice and I was satisfied. I made the 12×12 book that was very comparative to Shutterfly’s. In fact, I can hardly tell the difference between my Inkubook and Shutterfly books except for the fact that my Inkubook cover is “matte” instead of glossy. That was an option I selected.
