I’m sort of a pack rat when it comes to digital pictures. I hoard them all away on my laptop. Even the blurry ones. They aren’t particularly organized either. Procrastination and lack of extra time are two things that prevent me from documenting the lives of our family in an album. Preserving memories is very important to me however, so I do try to make an effort. Scrapbooking went by the wayside shortly after I had my first born. Now that I have three little ones I’ve become even more limited due to the sheer lack of hours in a day. If nothing else, a family year-in-review photo book will capture all of the highlights from births to birthdays, holidays such as Christmas and Halloween, a big family vacation and the first day of school. Throw in a couple of your best every day shots of the kids and you’ve created a memento for the entire year! Kodak makes the task of creating an album even simpler with their SmartFit technology. Just upload your photos and they’ll be grouped and arranged on pages according to the date they were taken. Kodak provides many options in size and album type such as soft covers and linen or leather hard covers. Your digital images will be printed on glossy, archival-quality paper and professionally bound. Prices start at $9.99 but you’ll often find coupons to bring the price down.
My photo taking skills are quite lacking, especially with my phone. Believe me when I say that my photo album is much nicer in person. There is a velum page between the cover of the album with the window in it and the page with the photo that is displayed in the window. I’m thinking of removing it because I would like to see a full color image instead of the way the velum mutes it. Other than that, I really like this album and enjoyed making it. The page pictured above was from Christmas. It’s hard to see with the glare of the dining room light on the glossy pages but there is a subtle but very pretty background to these black pages that I used several times throughout the book. It was simple to change photo arrangements, backgrounds etc. I started with the SmartFit layout and then just changed minor things and it really sped up the process. It saved me a lot of time and I still ended up with a great book to re-cap our family events of 2010. What mom couldn’t use a little extra help in the time saving department? Upload your photos and create your 2010 year-in-review book today!
