It’s during the holiday season that it becomes more apparent that our role as a good parents includes teaching our children about philanthropy. When all I hear is “I want, I want, I want…” I feel a deep need to counteract the greed with generosity. I realize that my children who are 5, almost 4 and 2 don’t understand greed. They just see things they want and express themselves. I want to teach them how good it feels to GIVE. Genuine Monkeez and Friends are an excellent tool to help teach children to make a difference. It’s never to early to teach children to think of others. The holiday season is the perfect time to start. Genuine Monkeez and Friends plush toys were designed to turn philanthropy into child’s play with it’s educational and charitable program, Monkeez Makes a Difference. Through online games and the Monkeez and Friends plush characters, children can participate in real-life Do Good challenges and a special donation will be made to one of three nationally known charities (Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Samaritan’s Purse and Best Friends Animal Society) on his or her behalf. There are more than 90 plush designs in multiple sizes to choose from in the program, including characters such as monkeys, owls, bears, lions, dogs, koalas, alligators, hedgehogs, elephants, hippos, zebras, frogs, cats, pigs, cows, octopuses, panda bears, kangaroos, turtles, bunnies and raccoons. Each specially marked character comes with a unique online game activation code on the tag to play educational games and learn more about helping others. Prices start at just $8.
I love that Monkeez Makes a Difference extends to the local level to help make a difference at home, school and in your community with their Do Good Cards. They are available in 15 different packs with each set containing different challenges that consist of simple, meaningful tasks for your children to complete such as “Today at lunch, look around. Invite a child that is sitting alone to sit with you.” When children have completed each challenge and talked about the experience with their parents, they receive the trading card, which can be redeemed at www.MonkeezAndFriends.com to receive incentives to continue making a difference.
The plush toys on their own are even cuter in person. Each one is made with attention to detail. The monkey’s hats are removable but are held in place magnetically. Their hands and feet are magnetic to help them hang or pose in different places or postions. Other animals include similar features. My kids like to stick them to the refrigerator. When you add the online element and charitable donations these toys are truly a gift. The prices are reasonable but the lessons are priceless.
