The Secrets to Saving at MyHabit & Gilt

Screen Shot 2013-06-28 at 4.41.58 PMIf you are a fan of discount shopping for luxury items, check out this new tool that makes it easy to find the best MyHabit and Gilt deals. The tool is called SortedBy (available at http://sorted.by) and it is a very simple, but powerful way to find exactly what you are looking for on these two popular flash sale sites. It also allows you to sort all currently available items by discount percentage and price, thus highlighting the most attractively priced items.

Flash sale sites usually discourage visitors from shopping by price and from being able to quickly find one specific item quickly, so I think of SortedBy as a hack for luxury shopping. I have discovered that SortedBy often reveals sales that are discounted up to 90%, even though MyHabit and Gilt only advertise their sales as being “up to 60% off”.

Here is an example of how you can use SortedBy. Say, you are looking for an inexpensive shirt for your kids on MyHabit. Head over to http://www.sortedby.com/myhabit/kids.html, type “shirt” into the search box, set $20 as the max price in the range filter at the bottom of the ‘Sale Price’ column, and you are done. You will get all matches sorted by discount, but you can re-sort them as you see fit. You will also notice that the results grid will include items that are not available through MyHabit’s main site because they are flagged as “expired sales”, however I’ve found that you can still order them. Again — looks like a cool hack!

So, once again, SortedBy seems like a pretty cool tool to use, so check it out and feel free to post your thoughts in the comments.
