Vanilla Chex Review & #Giveaway

I am NOT a morning person.  During the week it’s usually instant oatmeal or cereal with fruit and milk for breakfast.  My husband also tends to eat a bowl of cereal before bed.  Needless to say, our pantry is always stocked with cereal.  Chex has always been a favorite.  Recently they came out with a new flavor: Gluten Free Vanilla Chex.  This type of cereal is what we call a “weekend cereal”. Even though the Hubs usually makes us a nice breakfast on the weekends, there we still eat cereal on occasion.  This is when we let the kids have something a little sweeter.  Vanilla Chex are really sweet which makes them more of a treat.  In fact, they’re great in a variety of different recipes including this one:

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Start to Finish: 15 Minutes

9 cups Vanilla Chex cereal

1 cup white chocolate chips

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1 teaspoon pure vanilla

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1.  Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.

2.  In 1-quart microwaveable bowl, microwave chips and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir and microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth.  Stir in vanilla.  Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.  Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.

3.  Add powdered sugar; seal bag.  Shake until well-coated.  Spread on waxed paper to cool.  Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
