There is that transition stage for kids between toddler and kids that calls for a lot of change. Not only are they bigger, but they also have an opinion. Opinions on food, clothes, toys and even their bedroom. Boys may not care much about the latest decor trends or what matches with their new bed set. That does not mean that they don’t want to remodel their “baby” room.
Since kids do change their minds so often, do not go overboard with a remodel. Another benefit of that is that you will not have to break the bank to spruce up their room. Use these tips to remodel your boys bedroom.

New Paint=New Room
One of the most drastic changes you can make to any room is changing the paint color. This is also something you can do with your child. Since they have become so opinionated, let them help in this process.
One suggestion though, do not let them think they get to pick the exact color. They may be obsessed with lime green and lets face it, that is not the best choice for the bedroom walls, it would be more of an eye sore. Try and stay away from bright colors as they can be harsh when it comes time for bed, but don’t pick too dark of a shade either because it can make the room seem smaller.
Try and decide on a general color that they will like and you as well. Ask for their favorite colors. They may say green or blue, and from there you can pick a shade that will work best for the room and space.
Item Roll Call
When you think about boys, most of the time you will think of something along the lines of rough or rowdy. With that in mind, you might want to reconsider that brand new expensive dresser or desk since it will probably be ruined within a couple days.

Instead, I suggest finding an old piece of furniture at a local garage sale and sprucing it up yourself. You can paint it any color you want to match their room. Or another option would be to make your own furniture. Go to home depot or a store of that nature, buy some wood and nails and get to work. You can make your own desk, toy chest, dresser etc. The options are endless and inexpensive.
The Little Things
When you think remodel you may begin to think how much work, time, money it will take to really change the look of the room. However it is the little things that can really make the difference.
Adding accessories to a room can be just what it needs. Something along the lines of a rug, new comforter, or even adding a couple posters of their favorite superhero or movie will give the room a whole new look and will show some of their personality.

Also adding shelves to display some of their favorite things is a way to give the room a new look. Plus you can alway replace their batman action figure with one of their sports trophies when they grow out of that phase…if they ever do.
When remodeling your child’s room remember that they are still growing up and those opinions will keep changing. So there is no need to buy expensive things that they will hate in a week. The solution, don’t break the bank and still be able to remodel your child’s room with what they love by using these creative tips.
