I prefer to bake from scratch but to me, cakes never come out tasting as good as a boxed mix. And to be honest, sometimes I’m lazy and just want a quick fix for my sweet tooth. Just in time for the holidays when time becomes even more valuable, Immaculate offers new mixes made from wholesome natural ingredients:

All of Immaculate Baking’s convenient mixes are made without use of GMOs and have been enrolled for Non-GMO Project Verification. Currently, over half of Immaculate Baking’s products are Non-GMO Project Verified with the rest slated to be verified soon. So far I’ve tried the Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix and the All Natural Chocolate Cake Scratch Baking Mix.
The cookie dough mixes up a bit dry and crumbly but you are still able to form a ball and they come out delicious. My mom eats gluten-free so my kids were excited to take her some. But not before we enjoyed a bunch ourselves! My hubby is always skeptical of gluten-free foods thinking they won’t taste good but he liked these saying “they’re good, just different”. The texture is slightly different than what we are used to but the flavor was great!
Next my little helper helped me make some chocolate cupcakes. This mix requires eggs, butter and milk. We probably didn’t wait long enough for the butter to soften because it didn’t mix in all that well. The cake actually came out great though! We made adorable little princess cakes with the HABA Princess Silicone Baking Mold.
This silicone making mold is flexible and easy to clean. They are a lot more fun than regular cupcakes too! You are supposed to be able to use these without greasing them but I found much better results when I did. In 4 out of 6 of the molds, I sprayed with a baking spray then floured before pouring in the batter:
You can clearly see which ones were which! While they both came out of the pan fairly easily, the oiled and floured molds came out cleaner.
In the end, it didn’t really matter though because we used the molds with chocolate candy melts to create a shell-like topping that really picked up the details. Just melt some chocolate and spoon it into the mold. I found that not coating the sides of the mold made it easier to remove but maybe my technique just isn’t perfected yet. After coating the inside of the mold, stick your cake shape back in it’s appropriate spot and refrigerate for one hour before removing. I broke a few of the ones that I tried doing in all chocolate. The only one that came out was the rose. All of the ones that I just did the bottom in chocolate came out great with the exception of a broken butterfly wing.
I loved the flavor of the chocolate cake with the candy coated topping. It was a fun change from frosting. Next time I want to get more creative with different colors and experiment a little more. These molds are so much fun!
With this adorable HABA Summer Flower mold I thought it would be fun to try with Jell-O. Unfortunately due to user error, it was a flop. This mold is actually two pieces. The center of the flower comes out. I used raspberry jello for the petals and orange for the center of the flower. I added in fresh raspberries. I was so excited for how cute this was going to be! Maybe a little too excited because after about 5 hours in the fridge, I tried to remove it from the mold but it wasn’t set enough and turned into a giant blob. Looking back, I should have altered the Jell-O recipe a little so it would be firmer — more like a Jell-O Jiggler. Next time for sure! This would be so cute at parties for a different type of dessert. Of course it does work for cakes too!
