What creative ideas to you have to take advantage of free business card offers?

So, I took the day off yesterday…sort of. While I may not have posted any deals, I did work behind the scenes setting up some cash giveaways (coming soon!) and taking care the business side of things.  I wish I had some really awesome goals and New Year’s Resolutions to share with all of you but the truth of the matter is, most days I’m just trying to get by and don’t feel like I can handle the burden of high expectation goals. That being said, I do have some low pressure ideas that I personally want to focus on that I’m happy to share with you:

1. MORE Family Time — it’s what’s most important, right?  My three kids are growing up much too quickly and I want to find a way to find more quality time to spend with them and the Hubs.
2. Better Time Management — The only way to find that time is by having better time management.  For me, this is probably going to mean less TV time in the evenings with my hubby.  I always “work” even when we are watching a movie or tv show but I’m far less productive than if I used that time to focus on the tasks at hand.  That should free up a little bit of time during the day for small art projects or baking with my children.
3. Reading — I love to read and want to instill that trait in my kids.  I may not be able to find the time to enjoy leisurely reading myself, but for the New Year I’m determined to make time DAILY to read to my kids.
4. Take Better Care of Myself — what good am I to my family if I’m tired and stressed all of the time? Lately I’ve been skipping a lot of meals, staying up way too late and not exercising at all.  I’m vowing to start taking daily vitamins, be in bed by 11 pm, drink more water, and to take a lunch break instead of working through it without eating.  I’m also going to attempt to make it to the gym at least once a week.

Just writing down these goals makes me feel like I can breathe a little better.  I know that with a little bit of determination I can improve our life in these little ways.  I know a lot of people set really focused goals and big New Year’s Resolutions and while I may not be aiming high, this feels right to me.  The last thing I need right now is to feel like a failure.

I’ve got some goals for Mommies with Cents too! I love this deal that Freebies 4 Mom found on Amazon.  Right now you can get 50 packets of Wikki Stix for only $8.80!  These would make awesome party favors and come out to only $.18 each!  If you aren’t familiar with Wikki Stix (or Bendaroos), they are waxed covered colored pieces of string that are fun to bend into different shapes.  They are slightly sticky but not messy at all.  They are perfect for keeping kids busy in restaurants or even at the kitchen table while you cook dinner.  I also love Heather’s idea of using these and Valentine’s!  Last year we made homemade scented play dough for my son’s preschool friends, but this is a great alternative!

When Santa stops by tonight he’ll be picking up Kaitlyn & Wilson to help him finish his deliveries.  We are sure going to miss their company but we’ve enjoyed the time they’ve spent with us and will look forward to next year when they visit our family again.  They bring lots of smiles and laughter into our home during the holidays and we are so thankful that Santa allows them to come stay with us.

This morning we found the elves in the bathtub.  They’ve had lots of good hiding spots over the last few weeks and my four year old has gotten really good at finding them.  He really loves these little guys.  He takes them everywhere and makes sure to feed them their crackers and sprinkle them with magic snowflakes.  He insists that Wilson only needs one Snowflake and Kaitlyn needs 3 because Wilson has one snowflake on his shirt and Kaitlyn has 3 on her dress.

One morning we found the elves like this:

They were tangled up in an empty roll of toilet paper.  When we went to plug in the tree, this is what we discovered:

We think that the white toilet paper reminds them of snow so they put it on our Christmas tree! Those silly elves!  In a few hours we’ll be packing up their traveling case, baking cookies for Santa, and saying goodbye to Wilson and Kaitlyn until next year.  They leave us with good memories and warm hearts.
