First birthdays are special. I remember the parties I threw for each of my three kids with fondness. They had special cakes, adorable invitations, and festive decorations. They also had special birthday outfits. First birthdays are a big milestone and a reason to celebrate! The team at Babies”R”Us knows what a big deal it is so they’re celebrating Baby’s First Birthday in a big way at stores across the country. On Saturday, June 25 from 11am-12pm, all Babies“R”Us stores nationwide will host a Baby’s First Birthday event to celebrate this special milestone. You can find everything you need for your own celebration in-store. Attendees can take part in fun activities such as story time, photo prop fun, and decorate your own Geoffrey the Giraffe growth chart.
Look for giveaways such as a complimentary Geoffrey plush and a special Baby’s First Birthday crown and balloon. This will also be a great opportunity to meet other local families and babies celebrating Baby’s First Birthday!
All year long, Babies”R”Us stores are stocked with everything parents and gift-givers need to make Baby’s First Birthday special, including first birthday-themed apparel (pictured above), and My First Birthday products, gift ideas and more. Babies”R”Us should be your go-to for everything First Birthday related!

In our family, we have three main traditions that are unique to first birthdays:
The first is a special birthday invitation. Normally we use online invitations for events because it’s easier and more time efficient. For first birthdays I took the time to create custom invites to mail out to friends and family.
The second tradition is pretty common for first birthdays — a “smash cake”. I make a cake just for the birthday child to eat as they wish. I was pretty diligent about my kids eating healthy for the first year so this cake was their first taste of dessert! My oldest actually cried when we put a bite of frosting in his mouth!
Lastly, we purchase a big photo package to capture their one year old personalities. While we always do annual photos, we only purchase one pose. First birthdays we splurge and purchase many!
