I’m sort of a wanna be tea drinker. I don’t really know anything about it but I enjoy it from time to time. I’ve been drinking too much coffee lately and decided I wanted to cross over onto the tea side in the evenings. I had no idea where to start — there are so many options!
I went to a social gathering recently that sort of centered around tea drinking with fancy loose leaf teas and a special tea brewer. The tea was absolutely delicious but a little too much work for me. When I heard about Mighty Leaf’s TeaTop Brew Mug and their special tea pouches I knew it was right up my alley and the best of both worlds.
Might Leaf Tea is unlike other brands. They put whole leaf tea in pouches — no ground up tea dust, just great tea beautifully visible inside pouches hand-stitched with unbleached cotton string. This is the high quality tea that is served at 5 star restaurants. Only the best!
Mighty Leaf Tea is handcrafted with ingredients such as organic Moroccan spearmint, cacao nibs, pineapple bits, orange peels, hibiscus blossoms and more. Open a bag of your current tea and compare it to Mighty Leaf. I think you’ll be surprised at what you find!
The TeaTop Brew Mug is a simple yet genius idea. It almost looks like an ordinary travel mug except there is a slit in the lid. You thread the tag and string of the tea bag through it so that it dangles down into the mug. After the brew time elapses, just pull the string so that the tea bag rests up against the underside of the lid. It squeezes out the tea bag and stays in place above your tea so that it doesn’t continue to steep. It works really well and it SO convenient.
I tried the Orange Dulce sweetened with just a bit of sugar and it was delightful. I’m not a tea connoisseur so I’m not sure how to describe it. The Mighty Leaf website has user reviews of all of their teas and some of them are quite descriptive. I encourage you to take a look! The Orange Dulce flavor is described my Mighty Leaf as a luscious, rich brew teeming with notes of bergamot, orange, vanilla and jasmine blossoms. Made with Ceylon and China black teas, Orange Dulce brews up a fragrant and full bodied dark tea. Reminiscent of an aged Port, the flavor is sure to please.
I also tried the Vanilla Bean. I’m not sure what the correct way to drink tea is but for this one I added a little bit of vanilla creamer. I tend to like my beverages on the sweet side. Again, this tea was detectible! Mighty Leaf describes it as a deep blend of black tea leaves with Madagascar vanilla. A full-bodied and fruity cup, Vanilla Bean flavored black tea, a blend of Ceylon and China black teas, makes a deeply satisfying impression.
I tried a Chai Tea Latte for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was excited to find that I can now make them at home with Mighty Leaf’s Bombay Chai. All three of these flavors can be purchased individually for $9.95 for a box of 15 tea bags or together as part of the Sweet Selections Gift Sampler for only $26.70. Add the TeaTop brew mug for $16.95 and you’ll have the perfect gift for any tea drinker!
