Return Question: What is CVS’s return policy without receipts?

What is CVS’s return policy? That is a great question that I’m sure most of us will need if we haven’t needed already! This is what their website states:

Q. What is your Return Policy for nonprescription items?

A. Our hassle-free return policy allows you to return products to any CVS/pharmacy store or by mail within 30 days of receipt, subject to a few exceptions.

Store Returns: Bring any unopened, damaged, or defective nonprescription item(s) along with your online invoice to any CVS/pharmacy store to get a credit of the full purchase price.
Mail Returns: Call our Customer Care Specialists at (888) 607-4CVS (4287) to return items by mail. We will work with you to ensure that both your return and credit refund are processed accurately.

Q. What is your Return Policy for prescription items?

A. If you have questions or concerns about prescription items in your order, please call our Customer Care Specialists at (888) 607-4CVS (4287). Due to legal restrictions, prescription medications ordered online cannot be returned to CVS/pharmacy stores.

Q. Do any products have a money-back guarantee?

A. All CVS/pharmacy Brand products and all beauty products are 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, you can return the CVS/pharmacy Brand or beauty product (opened or unopened) along with your receipt or invoice and we will refund the full purchase price- no questions asked.

So, what is your experience?
Esther would like to know how returns are handled after you have received ECBs on the purchase. Will they give you a full refund or will they give you a refund that is less the ECBs? (Sorry I missed your full question, Esther!)

yea, the reason i ask is because they didn’t state anything about return without receipt. Not sure if items that we bought with ECB are returnable without a receipt. Anyone had that situation? (i had no choice but to return cause all my ECBs are stolen, $90 worth for both my account and my hubby’s! =(…)

I tried to return something WITH a receipt that I bought maybe an hour earlier and then changed my mind, and after accidentally leaving my wallet at walmart, they wouldnt even return it WITH the receipt because I did not have my credit card with me (they had to have the form of payment present). I was so mad, had to drive back to walmart to get my wallet then back to cvs to do the return. Very annoying. Dont buy something unless you really really really want it and know you wont be returning it. My guess if they are that strict, they wont do a return without the receipt, but thats a guess.

I have done returns with and with out a reciept at CVS. I have never had any issues. For my items with out a reciept I had to show my drivers license. I used a coupon for one item but not an ECB and I was refunded the full price of what was listed on the reciept. For the return without a reciept I spoke up becuase they almost gave me more money back than I originally paid for an item. I think it all depends on the store.

I agree with Mari that “it depends on the store.” In my experience, the employees of different CVSs interpret their return policy differently. I have never had trouble returning items to the CVS on Alewife Brook Parkway in Cambridge, MA but I have had trouble returning items a few times at the Porter Square CVS, which is less than two miles away in the same city.

One time I just left the Porter Sqaure store and angrily predidcted that the other store would allow me to return the items, no questions asked; and that is exactly what happened.

So, I suggest trying another store, if a particualr store doesn’t allow you to return something. You should be able to return things with or without a receipt. No receipt means getting a store credit (money card) and as receipt means getting back your form of payment.
