The great stuffing debate is on! My Grandma always made the best stuffing, but we called it dressing. From what I understand, they are virtually the same thing. One can be cooked in the bird and one can be cooked out, but you get pretty much the same result. Swanson wants to know whether you stuff the bird and what should the recipe include (veggies, fruits, nuts, etc..). Let them know what you think and get some awesome recipes there.
Every year before my Grandma passed away, she always made her Dressing for holidays. So, I obviously have to share. Not everyone is a fan of dressing/stuffing as I am one of them, but I adore my Grandma’s recipe.
My Grandma’s Ingredients and Directions for Dressing (remember- they never measured in my Granma’s era):
1 ½ loaf bread – let bread dry
8 eggs
Little ground parsley
½ stalk celery – ground
3 lg onions
Swanson canned broth
Salt & pepper
Bake 1 ½ hr at 350 degrees
Here’s a quick and easy recipe from Swanson that can be made in 15 minutes. Most of us are moms, after all, aren’t we? Who has time for gourmet meals each week?
Quick and Easy Stuffing
With just four ingredients and 15 minutes, you can make a homey, flavorful stuffing that tastes like you’ve been cooking all day.
Prep: 5 minutes Cook: 10 minutes Makes: 8 servings (3/4 cup each)
1 stalk celery, coarsely chopped (about 1/2 cup) 1 small onion, coarsely chopped (about 1/4 cup) 4 cups Pepperidge Farm® Herb Seasoned Stuffing
1. Heat the broth, black pepper, celery, and onion in a 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
2. Add the stuffing and mix lightly. Cranberry & Pecan Stuffing: Stir 1/2 cup each dried cranberries and chopped pecans into the stuffing mixture. Sausage & Mushroom Stuffing: Add 1 cup sliced mushrooms to the vegetables during cooking. Stir 1/2 pound cooked and crumbled pork sausage into the stuffing mixture.

I love your recipes – thanks for sharing. To me the best part of the Thanksgiving holiday is sharing it with family – especially the children. Passing down stories and traditions is precious. And, we all love stuffing and cooking together.

My family are purists – no extra stuff in the stuffing – just lotsa sage! and it HAS to be IN THE BIRD! The added flavor from the drippings makes the stuffing!
