Review and Giveaway: Sensible Sippers Organic Juice Boxes

by mindy on November 17, 2008

I was given the pleasure of my daughter being able to sample R.W. Knudsen Sensible Sippers Juice Boxes. Here is some background on how Sensible Sippers were developed.

In 1961, when Russel W. Knudsen began bottling fruit juices from his organic grape vineyard, he did so on one condition: his fresh pressed and blended juices would never have artificial flavors, preservatives or sugar added to them. This commitment ensured that customers who came up the hill to Knudsen’s Paradise, California, Concord grape vineyard could always buy the finest juice available. Little did the R.W. Knudsen Family® know, he was starting a tradition of innovation in health-conscious products.

The R.W. Knudsen Family® tradition of integrity, innovation and variety continues today. The company’s commitment to developing health-conscious fruit products based on consumers’ needs has led to the introduction of many refreshing ideas. To see a list of all of the products the company has to offer, visit their site: http://www.knudsenjuices.com/.

The Sensible Sippers are a very great 4.23 oz. juice box that are child friendly and unbreakable. They were the perfect size for my daughter, niece and nephew who all tried them. They sampled the apple juice and fruit punch. Obviously, I had to try a sip and I admit that my husband snuck one or two! They come with The Berenstain Bears on the boxes so they are noticable by children. The best part of the juice boxes are that they are 50% organic and 50% water, reducing the amount of sugar in each serving without compromising taste. Sensible Sippers are available in favorite kid flavors: Fruit Punch, Banana, Apple, and Mixed Berry. These juices also contain 40% fewer calories than regular juice boxes. Additionally, Sensible Sippers contain no added sugar, artificial flavors or preservatives, and are certified organic in accordance with the USDA’s National Organic Program. You can find these at Whole Foods stores nationwide.

I wish I could give my daughter more organic foods, but honestly they are very expensive in my area. So I try to give her healthy foods that are not strictly organic.

Maggie November 19, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Organic food are something of a budget-buster but we spend the extra money where we think it is most warranted- like with apple products. Buying in season helps, as does growing what we can at home. A 3-lb bag of organic apples cost me $2 at the grocery store yesterday!

valerie2350 November 19, 2008 at 5:22 pm

organic is my first choice when practical :)

while we can’t afford all organic at the moment, i feel it’s important so you know exactly what you’re truly eating!

Anonymous November 19, 2008 at 7:03 pm

We’re about %60 organic… with produce, eggs, snacks, and dairy products being at the top of the priority list

Elastigirl November 19, 2008 at 7:19 pm

I try to buy organic whenever I can but the price doesn’t always make that an option for us even though it is something I would prefer. Thanks for the giveaway.

Sherrylinn November 19, 2008 at 7:36 pm

My husband and I are still transitioning towards organic. But, our daughter and son-in-law find it important for their health as well as our grand daughter’s health. She (and I) also worry about additives in our foods.

Anonymous November 19, 2008 at 8:19 pm

I do the best I can when it comes to buying Organic foods for my son…it isn’t always 100% economical but when I am able to I do. The things I buy organic for him always are fruits and veggies and cereals though.

I don’t like to think of children ingesting pesticides that we really don’t know the effect of. We buy Organic when not too dear.

pipasmom November 19, 2008 at 8:26 pm

I try to buy organic as much as possible – especially for my kids. The more I learn, the more I find myself substituting with organic/natural products.

I worry about all the extra chemicals put in food. If they’re not there naturally, why should we put them in? Thanks for the giveaway.

Liz November 19, 2008 at 9:18 pm

Feeding my kids organic products always makes me feel better because I don’t worry about toxins, chemicals, pesticides, etc. that may have been used in the growing process. Who wants that stuff going in their bodies?

furygirl3132 November 19, 2008 at 11:52 pm

We are just starting to buy organic products and my daughter has really started to like the taste and I love the variety of things that we have bought like fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s hard to believe so many companies that are starting to come out with organic and all natural products. Thanks so much for the great giveaway, I would love for my kids to try these drinks.

I think my sons would like these. I try to buy organic without the “junk” that other items have in it.

Veronica November 20, 2008 at 2:25 am

I try to feed both of my boys the best organic food there is out there so i know that I am feeding them healthy food!

I’m not super into organic. But, I do make sure there are no growth hormones in my children’s milk.

Beverly
As a 3 time cancer survivor, I know how important it is to eat organic, or as organic as you can. If it's important for me, it's important for everyone, no matter what the age. There are so many pesticides, chemicals, etc. put on our food. With fruit coming from other countries, we have no idea what's on that. I've had 2 nutritionists tell me to eat as organic diet as I can. We don't need these chemicals in our bodies.
Babies depend on us to take good care of them. Please, buy organic whenever you can. You & your families won't get chemicals from them.

I do think it is important to eat organically, I just wish that we could afford to get everything organic. We spend the extra for the things that are hardest hit with the pesticides. Not just our food, but or lives and daily products need to get back to the basics.

hollie November 20, 2008 at 7:15 pm

I feel that it is very important to feed my family organically. With the money that we save by using coupons on items that are not available organic and for our health and beauty items we are able to offset the cost of buying organic meats, fruits, veggies and other foods. With cancer and other sickness that are so rampant right now if going organic can keep my kids from going through that then I am sooo willing to pay more.

sarah November 20, 2008 at 7:36 pm

I try to encourage environmental awareness. That is why organic food, clothing, ect. is important in my home. I want my son,Kaden, to have a clean world to live in as well as my grandchildren (eventually, i hope).

Briana Almengor November 20, 2008 at 9:04 pm

I would love to afford all organic food, but currently cannot. Thankfully, there is an Amish run grocery store about an hour away from my home that I visit once a month just to be able to buy as much organic food as I can at a significantly reduced price.

aliciaadams02 November 20, 2008 at 9:22 pm

We are most concerned with fruits and vegetables and milk and meat products. I love organic food, the food to me always tastes better and you never wonder what you’re really eating.

I buy organic when I can get it……I plant a small garden and raise organicallyle

Elizabeth November 21, 2008 at 2:03 am

Organic is just so much better and it seems to make her feel better.

camelfam November 21, 2008 at 4:45 am

We buy organic as much as possible. We joined a local organic CSA this year. We are trying to make sure most of what we buy is either organic or local…preferably both but alas it is not a perfect world!

Kari November 21, 2008 at 6:53 pm

We are definitely an organic family. I’d love to win these!!

Kari November 21, 2008 at 7:16 pm

I always buy organic when it’s an option. Im so glad to see it so readily available more and more.

dvice November 21, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Very important, we but almost all organic food for them

poodlemom November 21, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Not all markets have organic but a few farther away do and I buy if I can get their. It definitely tastes better and I prefer it, but for the most time I have to use regular because I can’t drive 15 miles for veggies all the time. Wish there were stores closer than sell it for a good price.

Renee November 22, 2008 at 5:50 am

I think organic food is better for them, so we buy it when we can fit it into the budget.

I think organic food is healthier. no pesticides or yuckies

Steph November 22, 2008 at 6:18 pm

I think eating organic is probably very important but we cannot afford organic foods. Where I live they are almost twice the price of regular foods.

Christine November 23, 2008 at 12:30 am

I like to give my kids organic food when I can because it’s better for them in general and doesn’t have things like high fructose corn syrup.

blueviolet November 23, 2008 at 3:25 am

I just can’t stand not knowing what all those ingredients are in foods and I don’t have to worry or wonder if I just buy organic. I know it’s a healthy choice for the kids!

We choose Organic when it finacially viable, but I think something is fundamentally wrong with the world when its cheaper to buy a pound of beef than a pound of tomatoes! Its overall choices that we make that benefit us – but organic is a big plus. Thanks for the giveaway.

Organic foods are important because my son is still developing physically and mentally and who knows what chemicals do to the body.

purango November 23, 2008 at 3:52 pm

It is very important for my children to have organic foods but with the limited availability and cost of organic products it is not easy to give your children organic products as much as you would like to. garrettsambo@aol.com

Laura November 23, 2008 at 5:45 pm

it’s hard to find organic products here and the ones that are available are three times higher than the regular counterpart so don’t buy organic yet. We are putting in our own garden next year which will be organic so that’ll help. trinitygsd at yahoo dot com

klp1965 November 23, 2008 at 5:58 pm

its very important it leads to better health especially with the obesity rate today :(

jennem November 23, 2008 at 7:42 pm

We belong to an organic CSA all summer, and in the winter buy about 80% organic. True that in the old days we didn’t eat organic…but they didn’t use the horrible amounts and types of pesticides, fertilizers, and GMOS they do now. Also, cancer rates and other diseases like autism are rising hugely…do we know that wasn’t impacted by the chemicals we ingested as kids? It’s pretty blind to ignore those possibilities!

Our organic CSA can be joined using food stamps!

I like my grandkids to eat healthy and clean foods.ty 4 the entry and the awesome giveaway!:)

jennifer November 23, 2008 at 10:49 pm

I think the harsh reality of what all these chemicals are doing to us, especially to our kids will come out someday in the future. Our girls are getting bigger and starting puberty earlier (which in turn increases cancer risks). Despite the expense, we only buy organic milk and meats. The hormones in non-organic versions scare me. I strongly believe the expense is well worth it.

Gabriel November 23, 2008 at 10:51 pm

We don’t do a lot of organics because of the price, but I do buy organic when on special.
