- Don’t allow smoking around your baby
- Use a firm mattress with a tightly fitted sheet
- Avoid overheating your baby
- Improve ventilation in baby’s room with a fan

One of the number one concerns for moms when they hear that it’s not safe for their baby to sleep with a blanket is that their baby will get too cold. Halo SleepSack Wearable Blankets and Halo SleepSack Swaddles are the perfect solution. The American Academy of Pediatrics, leading SIDS organizations and health professionals suggest the use of wearable blankets to provide a safe sleep environment for infants.
A SleepSack is a wearable blanket that replaces loose blankets for a safer sleeping environment. It is a sleeveless overall type sack with a zipper that is made to fit over regular pajamas. They are available in cotton, organic cotton, micro-fleece, deluxe velboa, sherpa and polyester quilt.
While it is safe to swaddle your newborn snugly in a blanket, a safer (and easier!) alternative is the SleepSack Swaddle. I love the SleepSack Swaddle because it is a 2-in-1 product. When your child no longer needs to be swaddled that portion can be completely removed to leave you with an original SleepSack.
