Growing up, I remember playing lawn games like croquet with my grandpa. It was always a lot of fun to be outside in the fresh air spending time with family. This Mother’s Day I took my Bolaball set to my family’s Mother’s Day barbeque to test it out for the first time. My grandpa who is 80 years old and still on a bowling league throwing a 16 pound ball, gave it two thumbs up. I had a great time playing with him!
The Bolaball game consists of two ladder-like structures and 6 Bolas (3 green and 3 yellow). A Bola is two rubber balls connected by a nylon rope. Each step of the Bolaball ladder has a point value. The object of the game is to be the first one to get to 21 by tossing your bolaball and getting it to wrap around or hang on one of the rungs.
My grandpa and I played first. The first few tosses we missed completely. Everyone on the sidelines had lots of tips for us but when they got their turn they discovered it’s a little harder than it looks!
My mom’s boyfriend loved Bolaball so much he asked me where he could get his own set. He said it reminded him of playing lawn darts when he was younger. Bolaball is available at Amazon.com
for $49.99 with free shipping.
This game is great for family picnics, birthday parties, camping and more. It comes in a handy mesh carrying case with a shoulder strap that makes it easy to take along. The targets are made out of hardwood and painted with environmentally safe paint. It is recommended for ages 8 and up.
