Review & Giveaway: Lala Travels iPhone App for Kids

by holly on August 27, 2009

Even being a frugal mom, I think iPhone’s are worth their price and I don’t even have one of my own…yet. My husband who can’t stand not having the latest gadget has one. Our whole family uses it though! I love the iPhone apps created for children. There are so many times when we are out our running errands that our two year old desperately needs a distraction so that we can get things accomplished without losing our sanity. More often than not, the iPhone saves the day! After reviewing iStoryTime I was approached by LalaTravels and offered an opportunity to review them as well.

Because they describe it best, here is some info directly from their website:

Little Lala

Little Lala is a delightful children’s book that toddlers and adults of all ages will enjoy. Grab your passport and join Litlle Lala, a curious and adventurous girl, as she takes a trip around the world searching for delectable dishes for a magnificent party for her friends.

Real Little Lala to your kids or put the book in “play” mode and let your children listen to the beautiful voice of Flora McGill.

Remember you if prefer to read “old style” (dust jacket and all), please head on over to theLalabooks.com site to purchase Little Lala directly.

Little Lala’s ABC’s

Lala’s ABC’s is a beautiful, easy-to-use alphabet flashcard app that helps toddlers learn to read. Each card features a letter of the alphabet in uppercase and lowercase, an adorable drawing of an animal whose name starts with that letter, and the word for the given animal.

Read the letters and words together with your children, or turn on the sound and let your kids listen to the beautiful narration by singer Flora McGill. The app also features a “shuffle” mode, in which the letters are chosen at random.

Both applications were written by Lauren Selig, illustrated by Patty Makatura, and narrated by Flora McGill.

We loved the illustrations in the little Little Lala book and thought it was cool to learn the names of foods from different countries. Since I’ve been working on learning letters with my two year old we really loved the Lala’s ABC app. Once again, we really enjoyed the illustrations. I think the shuffle feature will be a great learning tool once we make more progress. The animal pictures keep my son interested and I enjoy the fact that not only does it display the letter in upper can lower case but it also makes the sound the letter makes which will help with learning to read.
Both Lala’s ABC’s and Little Lala are available for download on iTunes for only $.99 each. Enter below by filling out the form for your chance to win a free download code. Be sure to check out all of our other giveaways here.
