One of my all time favorite gifts to give is books. While you might be focused on toys for the children on your shopping list, don’t forget that kids love books too! Books are fun and educational at the same time. Reading books to children helps instill a love of learning. In addition, helping to build a children’s home library makes for an inexpensive gift that is perfect for any occasion.
– an adorable book for little ones about some animal friends who decorate a tree together but lack a tree topper. Suzy Goose sees the perfect one high in the sky and does her best trying to retrieve it. The illustrations are brightly colored and the ending, of course, is a happy one.
Great Joy– a picture book for 4-8 year olds about a homeless organ grinder and his monkey who inspire a girl named Frances to speak at a Christmas pageant.

– a board book for the youngest “readers”. Simple words with adorable illustrations about Christmas traditions. Another Candlewick board book that makes a great stocking stuffer for little ones is Maisy’s Snowy Christmas Eve
.
Fancier books such as ones with pop-up pages make especially nice gifts and Candlewick has some really neat ones:
Cars by Robert Crowther- loaded with pull tabs, lift flaps and pop ups this book is also a wealth of knowledge about the earliest cars to the cars of tomorrow. A fold out race track is the icing on the cake.

– A gorgeous book for little girls comes complete with a fold-out mini stage with interchangeable scenery and backdrops, nine dancing figures and a CD featuring music from Swan Lake. The full color book tells the story of the ballet and offers staging suggestions. An awesome gift for a great price ($16.49 on Amazon). It’s packaged nicely in a ribbon bound box.
