Gardener’s Supply Company makes my heart happy!
The excitement I have about being able to share Gardener’s Supply Company to Mommies With Cents readers has made me into a giggling, jig dancing girl! I am so ecstatic to share this wonderful company with you!
Gardener’s Supply Company reaches to your patio, bathroom, apparel, home accessories, spa, decorative outdoor pieces, and yes, to your garden. This is an extremely personalized/customized company that is able to meet anyone at whatever stage of gardening they’re at.
I’m the kind of girl that reads Gardener’s Supply Company catalog like it’s a magazine or book. I will look through it a dozen times; take it to bed with me to read; circle and highlight products like a child does with a toy magazine; and point out practically every product to my patient husband.
A “kid in a candy store” doesn’t begin to compare to how I’ve felt about being asked to partner with Gardener’s Supply Company and write a Review and Giveaway for them! I have literally looked at every product at Gardeners.com three times; and my wishlist was/is the length of my forearm. I painfully narrowed down the list and today I will be showing off Gardener’s Supply Company’s Two Columnar Apple Trees.
Columnar Apple Trees produce in small spaces, so now you can grow delicious, full-sized apples in a sunny corner of the garden or in a pot on your patio! These special vertical varieties grow up to 10′ tall (Crazy, I know!), but their branches don’t spread. With minimal pruning, you can maintain their slim profile and keep fruit in easy reach. Gardener’s Supply Company ships one Northpole and one Golden Sentinel to ensure good pollination. These one-year-old bare root trees are hardy in Zones 4-9, and if you’re not sure what zone you live in use Gardener’s Supply Company’s helpful Zone Finder tool. Both trees need to be planted in full sun and if grown in containers, in colder climates, the trees will need to have winter protection. Shipping by growing zone begins in March and continues into June. Unfortunately, shipments of these trees cannot be sent to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.
These varieties have been selected for their upright growth habit, hardiness, disease resistance and delicious fruit. Columnar Apple Trees set their fruit along the main trunk or on short, spur-like branches. Northpole blooms in late April, and ripens in early September. It bears large, bright red fruit and is very juicy and sweet with a trace of tartness. Its flavor is similar to McIntosh, and can pollinate and be pollinated by any other apple. Golden Sentinel blooms in late April and ripens in mid to late September. It produces medium to large golden-yellow fruit. The flavor is similar to Golden Delicious, and can also pollinate and be pollinated by any other apple variety. For more planting and care instructions for Columnar Apple Trees click HERE.
Gardener’s Supply Company believes in their products so much, they allow customers to share their viewpoint of the product(s) they purchased. The fact that there is more than 45,000 reviews shows how strongly customers believe in the products and put trust in continuing to buy from Gardener’s Supply Company. I feel this provides a unique and rare confidence for customers and is also a very informative and helpful area to look at just for information.
Kitchen Garden Planner (KGP) is one of the first reasons why I fell in love with Gardener’s Supply Company and feel I would be doing you and Gardener’s Supply Company an injustice if I didn’t highlight it. Growing up I was lucky enough to have a dad that LOVED gardening and was raised eating fresh yummy garden fruits and veggies. After my hubby and I settled into our home I wanted to start my own garden. It helped me feel connected to my family and my childhood, along with making new fun gardening memories of my own. Being a newbie, I began to search around online and happily stumbled onto Gardener’s Supply Company’s Kitchen Garden Planner. With this planner you can pick from 50 different crops and design the layout of your garden. You can customize the names of your crops with the “edit my crop names” feature. The “save” and “load” features allow you to design multiple gardens and work on them later; and you’re also able to print out or email your planting map. There’s even an option to choose from eight pre-planned gardens, all designed for a 3′ x 6′ raised garden bed. Kitchen Garden Planner even has a section to learn about planting and care, a very large and informative vegetable encyclopedia; and a place to learn about essential products needed for your garden.
You can also enter to win a free Kitchen Garden, a retail value of over $550! The prize includes: One 3′ x 6′ Grow Bed; One set of 3 Tomato Ladders; One set of 3 Vegetable Ladders; One Cucumber Trellis; One Bean Tower; One Pair of Nitrile Gloves; One Lifetime Garden Hose (50 Feet); Seven 20 quart bags of compost; One 5 pounds all purpose fertilizer; One Marking Pen; One 24 wooden plant markers; $200 for seeds and transplants; Plus and expert consultation! I NEVER KNEW THERE WERE THIS KIND OF APPLE TREES
Amber says
Hi Emma! =)
I too was unaware of the Columnar Apple Tree – and only learned about them recently when I was shopping at Gardeners.com.
They are so neat! It’s like having a broomstick for an apple tree – such a neat thing to have for all those living with teeny tiny outdoor spaces or live in an apartment with a small balcony.
Even though I just got my trees they both have blooms on them, so I may just be eating my own apples this fall! =)
