What’s in a name? Find out at WhitePages Names! There you can find out everything you’d like to know about a name including it’s popularity, what it means and even an audio clip of how to pronounce it. One of the toughest things as an expectant parent is picking out the perfect name. It can be difficult but WhitePagesNames provides plenty of inspiration and information to lead you to the best fit. WhitePages Names is a great resource, especially for the less common names. For example, the name of the day yesterday was Xerxes. I had no idea how to pronounce it but with the click of a button an audio clip gave me the answer.
The site is really easy to navigate. The home page offers a featured “Name of the Day” but you can also search by the starting letter or click “Discover” to explore how popular a name is in your city/state during specific time frames all the way back to 1910. It was important to my husband that our kids had somewhat unique names. Luckily this site didn’t exist when I was pregnant with my first and suggested “Jackson”. I knew it was a popular name, but he didn’t. Here’s what I discovered about my kids names:
- Jackson: Over 600,000 people in the US have this name. It is most popular in the state of Georgia. 91% of those with the name Jackson are age 1-12. The height of popularity for this name was 2010. Our son was born in 2007.
- Parker (female): 314,000 people in the US have this name. This name is most popular in the state of Utah. Only 7% of people named Parker are female. 88% of Parkers are 12 years old or younger and 0.31% are 55 or older so clearly this name has gained in popularity over the past decade.
- McKinley (female): Only 3682 live people have this name in the United States however it’s most popular in the District of Colombia. 52% are female and 48% are male.
Looks like the girls win for most unique since so few girls are named Parker and less than 4000 are named McKinley compared to well over 1/2 million named Jackson! Very interesting!
