I’ve started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a new feature here on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
This week my challenge was my sliding glass doors. They were FILTHY. I am not kidding you. My son spilled a cup of milk that splashed all over the sliding door in our kitchen during dinner time a week or two ago and I just wiped it off with a sponge. I’m embarrassed to admit it but I just never got around to cleaning it off properly even though it’s been driving me nuts. We also have a slider in our family room which had toddler hand prints smeared all over it. I had a review to do of the Haan Steam Cleaner which conveniently included a window attachment so I finally set my timer and went to work. This is supposed to be a before picture but it’s really hard to capture how awful my doors really looked. You’ll just have to take my word for it!:
After my 10 minute timer went off, I was left with two sliding doors I could actually see out of which is a really great thing since this is my view:
I’ve got lots of windows and mirrored closet doors that I need to take my Haan to- 10 minutes at a time! (Look for my official review of the Haan Steam Cleaner coming soon!)
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. I know I have a lot to learn and it will only get more challenging when my third arrives! Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
