I’ve started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
Since I couldn’t remember the last time I cleaned out my freezer and really had no idea what was lurking underneath the top layer of stuff I had recently purchased, I figured it might be a good time to clean it out and make room for some of the meals my mom and myself were making ahead for when the baby arrives. My freezer drawers were so full they were becoming hard to shut:
This is only a portion of what I removed to get rid of. The rest went directly in the trash:
In ten minutes I was able to pull out all of the the garbage (I found a piece of ice cream cake in there and don’t even remember whose birthday it was from! Ew!), reorganize the drawers and re-claim some of my storage containers:
My freezer drawers shut with ease now and there was plenty of room for the big batch of pumpkin chocolate chip muffins my mom brought over for me. I don’t know why I put off doing things like this for so long. I always feel better when I get the task accomplished and in only 10 minutes!
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. I know I have a lot to learn and it will only get more challenging when my third arrives! Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
