I’ve started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
The 10 Minute Challenge will be moving to Fridays. I wasn’t sure that I would get to it this week as my due date is in two days and I fully expected to have had my baby by now! I guess he or she has other plans so while I wait, I keep truckin’ along. My coat closet has been driving me nuts. When I open it, junk falls out and I just shove it back in and cram the door shut:
I set my phone timer for 10 minutes and quickly went to work. I pulled everything out off the shelf and off the floor. I moved my son’s art supplies to a different closet, shuffled some stuff around and organized it and put it back in. Then I swept the floor of the closet and hallway. My timer went off just as I was sweeping my mess into the dustpan. It was a quickie job and I probably could have gotten rid of some stuff but I am just happy that I can open and close the door without stuff coming tumbling out now. Oh! And I found the piece to my floor mop that I KNEW was in there somewhere but couldn’t find. Success! I know I say it every week and it’s silly but I always feel accomplished after completing these little tasks:
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. I know I have a lot to learn and it will only get more challenging when my third arrives! Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
