I’ve started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
This week, in preparation for the new baby, I really needed to clean out my daughter’s dresser drawers. She’ll be sharing a room, for awhile at least, with her new brother or sister. Her drawers were overflowing with stuff she had outgrown and it were in desperate need of some organization:
I started with the bottom two drawers since the top drawer only had socks and hair accessories. I pulled everything out and refolded it as I sorted it into piles. One pile of clothing that still fits, one pile that she had outgrown and needed to be stored and another pile of items that were borrowed and needed to be returned to their owners. This is all the stuff that I removed:
Unfortunately, the drawers are still pretty full so I didn’t make room for the baby’s clothes as I had hoped but at least everything was neatly organized and put away at the end of the 10 minutes. We have a pretty decent sized closet so I’ll probably start hanging a lot of clothing to accommodate the storage all of our clothes. Here are pictures of the drawers at the end of my session:
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. I know I have a lot to learn and it will only get more challenging when my third arrives! Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
