I’ve started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
Mending is the last thing on my radar of things I need to do. My husband has even gone so far as asking my mother to hem an undone pant leg for him which she happily did because I always put it on the back burner. Last week the Hubs asked me to sew a couple of buttons on two pairs of khakis- I told him I’d put it on my list. And since it’s on my list, it became a priority- not a top priority, mind you, but I wanted to get it marked off so I made it a 10 minute challenge. Think I can sew two buttons in 10 minutes? You bet! Threading the needle is another story though- it took me 10 minutes just to realize that there was a needle threader in my little kit which made it quite easy! This was one of those little tasks I just dread for some reason. I’m happy I had something to cross off- an accomplishment- yay! And the Hubs is happy to have two pairs of pants added back into his wardrobe.
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
