The lazy days of summer are a distant dream. Summer with three little kids is anything but lazy. I’m still waiting for the day they learn to enjoy sleeping in. Instead of the day in and day out, “What should we do today?” a vacation would be lovely, even if it is busier than a typical day at home. Busy on vacation is a good thing! Virginia Beach sounds like a great place to visit. Here are my top 10 Reasons I Want to Visit Virginia Beach:
- It’s a beach! Hello! Nothing says vacation like a beach. Seriously. The sound of the waves with gulls in the distance, the sand beneath our toes and the wind in our hair…ahhhhh!
- Free Oceanfront Fireworks- There are free fireworks displays throughout the summer. We’re talking 4th of July style displays, and it’s FREE! You can’t beat that!
- Free Acoustic Concerts- Every Wednesday there are free acoustic concerts outdoors. Again, you can’t beat free! Plus, kids always love dancing around in barefeet to the rhythm of the music. I can’t say I don’t enjoy joining them!
- Old Beach Art Market- I love browsing art. This outdoor market features local artists and even does demonstrations. It’s kid friendly too!
- Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge- I have to admit, this one is as much for me as it is the kids. I think hermit crabs are so cool. I even used to have a couple as pets. A whole event centered around the little guys is bound to be fun! I bet my kids could even talk me into getting a couple if they have some for sale.
- Motor World: Paintball, mini golf, and go karts- need I say more? I think the hubs and I would probably have more fun than the kids.
- Ocean Breeze Water Park- From a giant wave pool to waterslides and rides, this is an all day adventure our whole family would enjoy. They even have a kiddie area.
- Surf Camp- Not only will you get lessons from a professional but you’ll have access to a professional photographer to capture it all. The event includes giveaways and ends with a party!
- Dolphin Tours- I had the opportunity a few years back to get up close to a dolphin and it was an awesome experience. I’d love for my kids to have the same opportunity. Of course I wouldn’t mind doing it again myself! This would be number one on my list.
- Tours, events, attractions etc. aside, I’d just like to spend some quality time with my family away from life’s everyday pressures. I could really go for a vacation right now and Virginia Beach sounds perfect!
The truth is, I think my husband and I would really enjoy being a kid again in Virginia Beach. While most of these things are geared towards kids, I think we might actually enjoy them more since our kids are still pretty little. Honey, if you are reading this…I think it’s time for a vacation! 🙂
