We received a Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote Control for free as part of a Bzz Agent Campaign (More about becoming a Bzz Agent coming soon!). We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and for the most part we really like it. I LOVE the fact that we only have ONE remote now that controls EVERYTHING- our surround sound system, directTV box with DVR, and TV. For the initial set up, you use your computer and it walks you through step by step. It was easy to program and it has a cool full color touch scre
en that makes it really simple to control. Personally, I think the screen is a little too small. I have long nails though and they seem to get in the way. My husband doesn’t have any complaints about the screen though. On the other hand, over all, I like the size of the remote. It fits nicely in your hand. I’ve seen some other (much higher priced) universal remotes that are the size of a large book and that are probably not nearly as user friendly as the Harmony One.
Another nice feature is the docking station which recharges the remote so you never need to buy batteries. The charge lasts about a week (or approx. 5 hours) The touch screen only lights up when the remote is picked up or moved to conserve power.
We use our DVR a lot and while the Harmony One works fine with our Direct TV box, it has a very slight delay- something we are willing to tolorate to only have one remote to keep track of and out of reach of our toddler!
