Mindy posted last week about the Jardine crib recall. We have a Jardine crib that looks exactly like one of the ones pictured on the recall only in white but it doesn’t have the same model number.
My son has gotten his leg stuck in the crib slats THREE times in the last couple of months. One time I had to use vaseline to free him and his poor little leg was so sore!
I’m wondering how common it is that children get their limbs stuck in the crib slats, Jardine or not. Cribs should be a safe place to put our babies. We shouldn’t have to worry that they’ll get stuck in them!
How many of you have had this problem? Maybe the standard width between crib slats should be reevaluated. What do you think?
It’s funny that you mention this today. I had read a while back about the Jardine crib recall and immediately checked ours out. I was happy to see that it wasn’t one of the ones that was recalled…
BUT! Yesterday and today, I have gone in to find my son with a leg JAMMED inbetween the crib slats! I had to get the leg out (fortunately I didn’t need vaseline) myself, because he was completely stuck in there.
It really bothers me that this could happen…but I haven’t seen cribs with slats that are much closer together to avoid this.
I’m just hoping it’s a fluke and it wont keep happening. But I think it will, because I imagine it’s because he’s attempting to climb out!
