Rain slickers are cute but they aren’t really practical. At least not for us. We live in the Seattle area where rain doesn’t discriminate against seasons. It rains spring, summer, winter and fall. Rain in the winter is cold and a cute little rain slicker isn’t going to cut it. When fall arrived, I was having a hard time finding a suitable jacket for my son who is two years old. We got him a sherpa fleece lined jacket that was great for playing outside on dry days but it was far too bulky. I struggled getting him buckled into his car seat and usually ended up taking it off of him. I found the perfect solution when it arrived on my porch (big blogging perk!). Agoo sent me their new rain jacket for this review. I received the MED Rain Jacket in Black size 4-5.
Let me tell you- I LOVE LOVE LOVE this jacket. It is slightly on the larger side for my son but I am crossing my fingers that it will fit him next year as well. With it’s drawstring waist, it can be cinched up not only to fit him better but to keep the cold air from getting underneath the jacket. The little zippered pockets on the front give the jacket a little something extra. We like to keep a couple of clean tissues in them because when it’s cold outside, Jackson’s nose starts to run. There is also a zippered pocket near the bottom on the back of the jacket. We aren’t sure what to use this pocket for but it sure looks cute! The cuffs have an extra piece of fabric with thumb holes which I think is really cool but Jackson doesn’t like to wear it that way. They can easily be tucked inside the sleeves. The shoulders have a reflective strip of detailing across the front which not only looks nice but provides a function- to make children more visible in the dark- a nice safety feature!
The hood is awesome. It comes far enough over his forehead to really keep the rain out yet it is light and lays nicely when it’s not needed so that it doesn’t bother him. Though lightweight, this jacket is still very warm and the lack of bulk makes it easy to buckle him into his car seat.
If by chance Jackson outgrows his Agoo rain jacket by next year I won’t hesitate to pay the $59 to buy him another. It’s gender neutral as well and I am positive that it will last for years and my daughter will be able to wear it too!
