We’ve had some readers express interest in learning about blogging so we’ve decided to make it a weekly series on Mommies with Cents! If you are interested in learning how to start your own blog or to cultivate and grow the one you have, we welcome you to join us!
Today’s questions is “How do I make a blog button?”
First you’ll need some basic HTML knowledge to be able to make any image “clickable”. You can use the following as an example. Just fill in the info in red with your own information.
<a href=”The URL You’d like your button to link to “><img src=”The URL where your image is hosted” /></a>
The first part is easy. For ours we’d use https://www.mommieswithcents.com. For the second part you’ll need to have your image hosted somewhere. We have had success using a free photobucket account. If your image is already online somewhere, just right click on it and select “copy image location” then paste it into the second red area.
Otherwise, upload your image to Photobucket. Once it’s in an album, hover over it to get your code. Use the “direct link” and paste it in the second red area of the code above.
You can edit images in Photobucket and I’ve had some luck designing buttons using other elements from our blog such as this one:
I’m obviously not an expert but I’ve dabbled a little bit and have come up with some stuff that has worked for us. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you might have or walk you through it if you are having trouble. Just send me an email!
When Mindy and I started out we had no idea what we were doing. We learned as we went and even though it’s been a few years, there is still so much to learn! We are learning new things all of the time and it’s so much fun! We’ve had help along the way and we want to pay it forward. If you have a question you’d like to see answered here, we invite you to fill out the form below.
