Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece Video Game Review & #Giveaway

I’ll admit, I was a gamer as a kid.  I’d spend hours playing Nintendo, even in the summer with the curtains drawn — couldn’t have the sun glaring on the screen!  That’s why as a parent I’m torn.  I know how much fun video games are but I believe there should be limits.  Video games have come a long way though and are so much more interactive and often educational which makes me feel a lot more comfortable about screen time.  Take Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece for example.  It will introduce your preschooler to the magical world of music. The game is available for  Nintendo Wii or DS. Children will enjoy playing instruments and exploring music with their favorite friends, Abby Cadabby, Elmo and Count von Count. This video game was designed specifically for little ones with audio direction rather than text and a parent drop-in feature that allows parents to use the second Wii remote to assist their child.  The DS game format does not require the use of buttons, only screen tapping, to make it easier for young children.  The Wii version requires minimal button usage.  Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece incorporates academic aspects into the game.  For example, the pattern and counting concepts found in music are taught in a fun and simple way that’s easy for kids to understand. The game’s simplicity allows children to play independently while the Parents Page allows you to monitor their usage, set functions such as difficulty level and game limits as well as create custom playlists.  The lively score by popular Los Angeles based band, Ozomatli, is appealing to both children and their parents.  Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece for Wii or Nintendo DS is rated ‘EC’ for Early Childhood and can be purchased at retail stores nationwide or via the Sesame Street Online Store for $19.99.
