My kids haven’t seen The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Sad, I know. I tried to find it on Redbox and Netflix without luck. I also asked around if anyone had the movie but struck out there too. My kiddos may not have been familiar with the characters but they still enjoyed After the Wizard. The movie based on the characters from the original The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a modern day story about a 12 year old Kansas orphan who turns to the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman for help when things are rough. Elizabeth has read the novel countless times and believes she is Dorothy — and perhaps she is! Find out in After the Wizard as you discover the value of friendship and the power of the imagination. Released on August 7th, this film is Dove Foundation Family Approved for all ages and has been described as “delightful…imaginative…warm and creative” by one of it’s members.
There were several lessons based on good morals and values in this movie. My oldest is five years old so I’m not sure all of the kids got the full benefit but they really enjoyed the characters and asked lots of questions. After the Wizard is a great movie for family movie night!
