Laundry for a family of 5. Nothing to love there. I’m always looking for ways to simplify the whole laundry process. Here are my tips:
- Skip hampers for the kids — Our laundry room is actually in our garage. I’ve taught my kids (ages 5, 4 and 2) to bring their dirty laundry directly to the laundry room to reduce the number of heavy load laundry trips I have to make up and down the stairs.
- Get a hamper with wheels — Our room is on the main floor. We keep a hamper with wheels in our bathroom so we can put our dirty laundry in it as soon as we undress. The wheels make it easy to get it from one end of the house to the other
- Fold by family member and type of clothing — When I fold I separate into stacks for each member of the family. I put pants on the bottom, then shirts, then pajamas with socks and underwear on top.
- Don’t fold what you don’t need to — I don’t actually fold undies. I just stack them flat.
- Use an all-in-one product — I always forget to add dryer sheets so I like to use Purex with Crystals Fragrance + Fabric Softener.
