This past week I started a project I had been wanting to do for awhile, to create a mudroom area in our garage. Yes, it’s in our garage, and yes it’s a mudroom but I still wanted it to look pretty. I found this idea for a bench on Pinterest which inspired my idea for the mudroom unit I created with Expedit bookshelves from Ikea. I used one horizontally for the bench and one on each side vertically for storage.
Since I knew I’d make a fabric cushion for the bench, I stared by picking out the fabric I’d use first (a green/white/grey chevron print), then the paint. I painted the walls green during the week so I’d be ready for the furniture over the weekend. We made the trek to Ikea, purchased what we needed then came home and put it all together. It was all surprisingly easy and looked great. But once the unit was put together I was excited to move on to decorating the space.
