My oldest two are just hitting the age where they can start playing and enjoying games together. Simplicity is key but silliness and fun is a close second. Ring Bling encompasses both. With at least three different ways to play, you can find the one that best suits your children and the amount of time you have.
The game comes with 4 Happy Hands, 50 rings, a spinner and 50 Following Directions cards. The cards feature 3 categories:
- Basic Directions – Beat your chest like an angry gorilla.
- Conditional – If you like brownies, bark like a dog.
- Temporal – After you wave your magic wand, turn yourself into a monkey.

In the version we played, each player starts with 12 rings in a pile. They draw a card, follow the directions, then spin the spinner to either earn 1 or 2 rings or to give 1 to another player. When they earn a ring, they put it on their Happy Hand. The player to get 12 rings on their Happy Hand first is the winner. In the photo above, Jackson had just drawn the card “If lemons are yellow, make a funny face.”
McKinley got the card “Make a face like a scary jack-o-lantern.” All of the cards are fun, easy (and silly!) for the kids. The collectable rings are cute for both boys are girls — there are lots of different designs including sports, dinosaurs, plus jewels and more. My kids never even minded when the spinner directed them to give a ring to another player. They got along well while playing Ring Bling and had a great time!
I had to assist with the game since Jackson is only just learning to read but I look forward to when the kids will be able to play this all own their own — it won’t be long! I love the creativity of this game and the fact that it encourages the kids to use their imaginations and act things out.
Ring Bling sells for $29.95, a bit on the pricey side in my opinion for what is included in the box. That being said, a game the kids can enjoy without fighting is priceless!
Super Duper Publications products were once only available to therapists, teachers and special needs professionals. Recently their products were made available to the general public. The TNPC recently awarded six Spring 2013 Seal of Approval for every product Super Duper Publications submitted for review, including Ring Bling! To win a Seal of Approval, “the testers are encouraged to play with, build, read about, and judge by the reactions of the children, each product’s quality.” And after eight weeks of play testing, TNPC reviewers were not short on praise.
