We bought a new house at the end of last year. There were some new things for us to get used to, like the laundry area being in the garage. It’s actually kind of convenient because I’ve set up a “mud room”, a space to clean up before entering the house. We can come in from working in the yard, take off our dirty shoes, wash our hands etc. without dragging any dirt into our home. Even though it’s part of the garage, I still wanted the area to look nice. I bought some pieces from Ikea, painted the walls a pretty green and made a cushion for the seating area with some cool fabric (not pictured).
Since the walls are sheetrock and textured, then painted, and the rest of the area also has a finished look, it almost feels like it’s part of the house. The only exception is that the floor is concrete. I needed something attractive yet function for the space. This flat woven rug is made with durable polypropylene fibers which have been UV stabilized to minimize fading. I’m thinking about getting another one for our deck. I have the perfect spot for a swinging bench and a pretty rug!
