As a mom of 2 girls (and one boy), I have concerns about some of the dolls on the market today. I prefer my kids play with wholesome, age appropriate toys that promote healthy body images and self esteem. Lottie Dolls have received praise from The Huffington Post and won the Oppenheim Platinum Best Toy Award THREE times in 2012 with their various dolls. The dolls don’t wear makeup, jewelry or high heels. They’re realistically proportioned modeled after the dimensions of a real 9 year old girl.

My daughter McKinley received the Butterfly Protector Lottie Doll for review. Right away I was impressed at the attention to detail in these dolls and their clothing, especially at the $20 price point. Our doll even had adorable striped socks on! The set came with tiny little binoculars, a butterfly net, some little cardboard butterflies and a little butterfly lifecycle collector cards. McKinley loves little treasures like these so right away she found a little zippered pouch to keep them in:
The Butterfly Protector Lottie Doll packaging had a little story that encourages imaginative play and helps children understand why butterflies are important to the ecosystem. This Lottie Doll comes dressed in polka dotted green and white caterpillar boots with the orange striped socks. Her pink and purple jacket tops off the outfit of orange corduroy shorts, a pink t-shirt with a removable butterfly patch and a cap with butterfly motif. It’s completely adorable! McKinley loves all of God’s gifts of nature, especially butterflies and horses so selecting this doll and the accessories was a no-brainer to me. Here’s my little nature girl with a butterfly she found in the yard last summer:
Whether your child loves pirates or karate, wants to be a gymnast or a soccer player, Lottie dolls has a doll for her. I love that the dolls encourage things like sports and promote having aspirations. We chose Seren The Welesh Mountain Pony ($19.99) as the accessory. It comes with a saddle, bridle, stirrups and saddle pad. Now Lottie can trot through green pastures on her hunt for butterflies on the back of her long maned friend.
The accessories that are available are just as fantastic as the dolls and add so much more fun to role playing. Extra outfits and accessory packs are only $9.99. You can find Lottie Dolls and accessories on Amazon.com including the four new “Hero” dolls which join the 8 dolls in the original collection.
