Spring is just days away and while some parts of the country are being dumped with snow, we’ve been blessed with some sunshine! Granted, the temps are still only reaching a high in the 5o’s but we’re moving in the right direction! I couldn’t resist putting my girls in their new Umi shoes on a recent sunny morning even though the frost on the grass was still melting and luckily the day warmed up quickly to almost 60!
Umi sandals are becoming a sort of tradition, a signal to warmer days ahead. I get them a little bit on the bigger side because most days this early in the season we are still wearing socks and experiencing a lot of rain. I don’t want them to grow out of their shoes before summer!
For my youngest I chose “Celeste” in Fuchsia. I love the bright pop of color and the shiny leather. The ankle strap looks like a buckle but it’s actually Velcro. I love this because you get the traditional style with modern convenience. My four year old hasn’t mastered buckles yet so these are ideal for us. The double foot straps are real buckles but these only need to be adjusted to fit one time. For Parker, we adjusted down to the very last hole since we ordered a little big.
Seriously cute, right? These sandals will be perfect for all sorts of outfits for the warmer seasons. I think they go great with shorts, skirts, dresses and even leggings and jeans!
Now I just need to paint her little toe nails! If the pink is a little too bold for you, the Celeste is available in 9 other colors! They retail for $50.
My big girl is really into wanting to look more grown up. I say no to anything with a heel much to her dismay. She fell in love with the Rozelle II in silver. These gladiator style sandals are super fashionable as well as comfortable! Rather than a buckle, these shoes feature a back zipper that keeps them looking sleek.
We can’t wait to do a little fashion experimenting with these as the weather warms up! I can assure you, dresses will be at the top of our list and I think that suits these shoes best though they will also look cute with shorts and capris.
McKinley also needs a little toe nail polish and a little growth spurt! She’s already the tallest girl in her class but her feet have a little catching up to do! These sandals come in 3 colors and sell for $70 a pair.
For my 7 year old son, we went with Jett B II in grey multi. His school colors/sports teams are red and black so these fit right in with his wardrobe. I like that they are mostly neutral with a pop of color so that even if he wears different colors, these shoes will still work. The laces are elastic so there’s no shoe tying, thank goodness! Jackson can tie his own shoes however he tends to be pretty sloppy about it and the laces always end up dragging on the ground and getting ruined. These he can just slip on and go without worrying about getting them tied correctly — a lifesaver on busy mornings!
These shoes look great with jeans but I think they look good with shorts too! They’re casual yet have that classic look that can take an outfit up a notch.
No toe nail painting for this guy and no need to wait for warmer weather either! These might not be ideal for super cold days but they’re spring-ready, even in the Pacific Northwest! This style is also available for girls (so cute!) and come in 5 colors. They retail for $50.
