I’m lucky enough to have been blessed with two little girls. I had a boy first so it was a big change. I couldn’t wait to put my first daughter in a little dress and put bows in her hair. I didn’t have to wait long because she was born with a full head of red hair just before Christmas. She wore her pretty Christmas dress with a bow to match. Then my second daughter was born and it’s been girly-girl around here ever since! Pink and purple, princesses and dolls– It’s so much fun! My oldest daughter is two and a half. She loves to dress up. She’s been known to get very creative. When she can’t find her purse she’ll use a rubber boot with handles to tote her prized possessions around in. She has lots of childrens jewellery and she isn’t afraid to wear it all at once. Plastic bangle bracelets, Silly Bandz, rings and necklaces, she loads them on. It’s adorable but I also look forward to when she is old enough for a special piece of jewelry. Something a little nicer. I remember when I turned 13. My parents bought me a real gold ring with my birthstone (opal) in it. I took it very seriously and made sure I was very careful not to lose it. In fact, I still have that ring. I probably won’t wait that long to give my girls something special. I’m thinking a pretty necklace when they turn 6. Something sterling silver with a little charm perhaps. Maybe we’ll have a special girls day painting our nails, getting “all dolled up” and going out to her favorite lunch. Then I’ll give her that beautifully wrapped box with the special necklace inside. Sounds like a perfect birthday to me!
Is there a certain age you have a special celebration for in your family? I’d love to hear! Leave me a comment!
