Staples and Twittermoms have partnered and are asking us to provide 10 money saving tips for back to school. Here are mine:
1. Pack lunches. By packing lunches, this can result in a healthy and very cost effective strategy.
2. Carpool or take the bus. This will save a lot of money on gas, so why not switch off with the neighbors?
3. Shop all of the ads and look for the lowest deals.
4. Use coupons with all of the specials in the local stores.
5. Reuse whatever was leftover from last year. Does your child really need a new backpack every year?
6. Go to yard sales or thrift stores for clothing.
7. Stockpile for the next year when the back to school items go on clearance.
8. Get organized! Make lists matching what the school has and organize all deals by store with the coupons.
9. Our school has a scrip program. We purchase giftcards to stores such as Kroger and 4% of the money is given back. 2% goes back to us for the next year’s tuition and the other 2% is donated to the school.
10. Scout all of the best deals by subscribing and reading money-saving websites.
