Favorite Toys

In a previous post I talked about water bottles, tupperware and cardboard boxes being a child’s favorite toys and why not to splurge on all the latest gadgets. However, water bottles aren’t my son’s ONLY toys! I still think it is important to buy toys that are developmentally appropriate for your baby. A few of my favorites are stacking and nesting cups (measuring cups work too!), blocks, balls, bubbles, music cds, musical instruments and books. Toys that encourage imagination are always great. Look for places to get these items at a discount such as consignment sales, garage sales or a dollar store. Or make your own! To make your own bubbles- try these recipes. Or try making your own musical instruments (remember to closely supervise as some of these contain small parts).

Songs with hand motions, peek-a-boo, pat-a-cake and nursery rhymes will also entertain your baby and don’t cost a thing! If you don’t know many baby games, look for an infant/toddler storytime at your local library or ask your librarian for suggestions.
