When I was pregnant with my first child I started a journal. In it I wrote to the baby saying how excited I was to meet him/her, the details of how my pregnancy was progressing and what was going on in our life at the time. During the pregnancy my husband was laid off, then transfered from Washington state to Texas where we bought a new house and started a new life. After my son was born, I continued to write in the journal keeping track of every new development from his first smile and giggle to each new food he tried and I wrote how much I loved watching him grow. When I got pregnant again, I started a second journal. Durning that pregnancy we moved back to Washington state, my husband got a new job and we started over a second time. All of the details are in their journals. On their 18th birthday my kids will be given these journals, my love notes to them, and an account of our journey together.
I knew someone who wrote a special letter to her daughter each year for her birthday which also happened to be Valentine’s Day. I know her daughter cherished those letters, especially after her mom passed away. Both of my journals have hearts on the cover and while I was writing in them last night I thought it might be a fun idea to share on this blog. I enjoy writing and update my journals at least once a month. Even if I only write once a year it will still be something special for my kids to have to read when they are older.
The Mommy Journal: Letters To Your Child
is made specifically for writing to your kids. This journal
is adorable and perfect for “love notes.” You could even make your own or pick one up from the dollar store. Your kids might be too young to appreciate it right now but they will probably think it is the coolest thing you’ve ever done when they are older.
Start a journal or write a love letter to your kids and let them know how much you love them and how special they are to you this Valentine’s Day!
