First of all I have to start out by saying how nice and helpful the folks at Picture Keeper are. While Picture Keeper is compatible with Macs, if you use iPhoto, there may be some additional steps. I recently purchased a Mac Book and wasn’t really familiar with how to use it. They were able to walk me through, step by step. For those of you with a PC or Mac not using iPhoto, backing up your photos is as simple as plugging Picture Keeper into your USB drive.
Upon plug-in, Picture Keeper automatically finds your pictures and stores them without any software downloads. You can even set up a reminder at picturekeeper.com to remind to back up your photos on a regular basis. The cool thing is, each time you plug it in it will only find and back up new photos, not ones you’ve previously backed up.
Picture Keeper is available in 4 GB and 8 GB storing 4,000 and 8,000 pictures respectively (based on an average jpeg size of 1 million bytes per picture).
The Picture Keeper makes your pictures portable from one computer to another. I love this because I can take all of the recent photos of my kids to their grandparents so they can print them or share them with others. Picture Keeper can also be set up to save other types of files including videos under the advanced options tab. Watch this video to see exactly how Picture Keeper works:
For only $39.99 or $59.99 you can rest assured that your pictures are safe and sound with the Picture Keeper. Just plug it in and click Start Back Up. That’s it. Really.
