I love to be adventurous for the most part, but ever since I had children, I am not quite as wild and crazy as I once was. That being said, the most adventurous thing I have done in my life involved what just ended for the year actually (although it was many years ago for myself). I went to Fat Tuesday while I was in college. Not only did I go to Fat Tuesday, but I skipped a few classes (gasp) and didn’t tell my parents I was going. The only reason they found out was because I used my credit card for some purchases. My friends and I checked out Bourbon Street, festivals and sightseeing. We had a blast taking in the culture! I had never been there and actually didn’t know much about the city. Did you know they have to bury their dead above ground because of the sea level? See- I consider the trip educational haha.
This doesn’t sound like a huge moment to be out of someone’s comfort, but it was for me. (I don’t condone my actions either, by the way.) New Orleans is not very close to Kentucky. I was also very habitual about going to class. It is hard for me to be late or miss anything! It didn’t matter where I went- it was the point that I went and was out of my comfort zone. We only live once and I want to live with no regrets. I have such a type A personality that it is definitely not like myself. Believe me, actions have consequences and I had to answer to my parents. Remember that one, Mom?
So, what are some ways you break out of your normal every day routine and step out of your comfort box? It may be as simple as putting grape jelly on your peanut butter and jelly sandwich instead of strawberry. You wild, ones! Let us know!
