Sesame Street, one of the longest running children’s programs, is in it’s 41st season. It has won more Emmy awards than any other show in history (130!). One of the latest additions to the Sesame Street series of DVDs is Wild Words and Outdoor Adventures. This DVD which features all of our favorite Sesame Street characters teaches children about the outdoors and our environment. Each segment on this video has a celebrity guest. Jimmy Fallon is the Wild Nature Survivor Guy who helps Elmo and Rosita survive the wilderness on Sesame Street. Kyra Sedgwick plays Camouflage Carla in a race against time and Lin Manuel Miranda who plays Freddy Flapman convinces Big Bird to move to a new habitat. Other special guests include Debra Messing, Cameron Diaz, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Meridith Viera who help teach children the meaning of some of the words associated with the stories in the video. With a 54 minute running time and four full stories, this DVD is sure to entertain the kiddos (as well as parents if you’re fans of any of the celebs!) A bonus Alphabet Jungle Song is also included.
It’s so funny to hear my kids use new words they have learned. DVDs like this one are great because they combine fun with education and still hold their attention. Both my four year old and my two year old enjoy the Sesame Street DVDs and Wild Words and Outdoor Adventures was no exception. The DVD which was released on April 5, 2011 is available in stores and online for a SRP of $14.98.
